Eyes Can Get Allergies Too! Be Aware!

The irony is the first thing that people do after noting any changes in the body is ‘NOTHING’. Types of eye allergies:

Eye allergies can be less severe and can also be chronic too. Here are a few types of eye allergies listed below:
  • Atopic Conjunctivitis:  This is a common condition and can affect a person as a result of sensitivity towards pollutants, pollen grains and so on.
  • Hay fever or seasonal allergic conjunctivitis: It’s a short term condition and is caused if a person is hypersensitive to pollens.
  • Perennial Allergic Conjunctivitis: Mostly people in their middle ages get affected with this condition. These can happen at any time, all year round and is caused by moulds, dander or dust mites.
  • Vernal Keratoconjunctivitis: It’s a chronic, serious eye allergy affecting people very rarely. It can lead to corneal complications and is seen mostly in people living in warmer climatic zones. The condition can affect young adults and children as well. The condition is seasonal and occurs around the time between spring and autumn.  
  • Atopic Keratoconjunctivitis: This condition is severe and can even threaten the eyesight if not treated. This condition is often accompanied by asthma and eczema.
  • Contact allergic sensitivity: This condition is caused as a result of repeated traumas of the cornea. This can be caused by using contaminated contact lenses.

Symptoms:

There are several symptoms of eye allergies that people must be aware of. A few of them are listed below:
  • Itching
  • Blurred Vision
  • Tearing
  • Swollen Eyelids
  • Sensitivity to light
